Our Commitment to Privacy

This Privacy Statement applies to LifeCenter Northwest, a nonprofit organization responsible for creating and maintaining the systems to facilitate organ donation, and Donate Life Today. Donate Life Today supports LifeCenter Northwest's mission through education and outreach programs and operates, on behalf of the Donate Life Today (the "Registry").

We respect the privacy of every visitor to our site and are committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information. This Privacy Statement explains our information and data security practices. Because your privacy is important to us, we provide you with notice and choices about the collection and use of your information. To make this Privacy Statement easy to find, links are provided at the bottom of our homepage and on every page within our Site.

Information We Collect

Use of Cookies

A temporary cookie is stored on your computer’s hard drive during your visit to the Site. Cookies are parcels of text sent by a server to a Web browser and then sent back unchanged by the browser each time it access that server. Cookies are used for authentication, tracking and to speed up your access to the Site and the information you wish to see. Cookies do not contain any personal information. When you log off from the Site, we automatically clear any temporary or session based cookies.

The majority of Web browsers accept cookies, but the “help” menu on your browser should give you options for preventing, accepting, or receiving notice of new cookies. However, please be aware that if you block cookies, some web site functionality may be lost.

We collect two types of information:

1.    Standard Web server traffic pattern information. General traffic, site usage, and length of stay information is collected and stored in log files. Log files are transaction records maintained on Web servers to record information such as: Service provider IP addresses, browser versions, referring web sites, average number of pages requested, average duration of visit to the Site, and total visitor traffic.  This type of information is shared externally only on an aggregated basis.
2.    Personal information. We do not collect personally identifiable information from you unless you provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly, as described below.

Donor Registry

In order to create an account and register as a donor, we require the following personal information: first and last name, street address, city, state, zip code, telephone number, email address, date of birth, gender, and Driver’s License number.  

You can access your profile by entering your user name and password or driver’s license/state ID and date of birth each time you use the Site.

Financial Contributions

If you choose to make a financial contribution, we require your contact information and collect standard credit card information (card number, card type, expiration date) and keep a record of your donation. Credit card numbers are held only until the charge can be processed (usually several minutes), and then the number is only available for purposes of problem resolution.

Volunteer Applications

If you wish to become a Community Advocate, we require the following personal information: first and last name, street address, city, state, zip code, telephone number, email address, date of birth, and reason for your volunteer interest.  

How We Use Your Information

Donor Information

Personally identifiable information submitted by visitors wishing to be organ, ey or tisse donors will be added to the Registry and kept confidential. Use of donor information is restricted to those purposes set forth in applicable state donor laws. Specifically, your information is only used in matching your organ donor designation with hospitals looking for potential donors.  Your information is only shared with organizations that are authorized by the Washington Donor Registry, and the hospitals to verify this information in the case of a death of a registered donor. We may share donor registry information with another Washington state organ procurement organization, a recognized in-state procurement agency for other tissue recovery, or an out-of-state federally designated organ procurement organization that has been designated by the United States department of health and human services to serve an area outside Washington.

Information of Financial Contributors

Personal information provided in connection with a financial contribution will only be used for the specific purpose for which it was submitted.

Volunteer Information  

If you submit a volunteer application, we may enter your name into our database and contact you in order to discuss your volunteer application and provide you with information regarding our programs, events and services.

Aggregate Information

We may use personal information to generate aggregated information that does not allow the individual to be personally identified or contacted. Aggregated information shows visitor activity as a whole rather than on an individual basis and may be used to improve the effectiveness of the Registry and Site.

Newsletters

We send periodic newsletters to individuals who have opted in to receiving them. Recipients may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by using the provided unsubscribe link within the email or by emailing info@lcnw.org.

Service Providers

We may use third parties to provide us services such as credit card processing, website content management, and email management.  In all cases, we would ensure that these third-party service providers maintain the privacy of your information in accordance with this Privacy Statement.

Legal Requirements

Other than as set out above, we will only release personal information to third parties if a law, regulation, search warrant, subpoena or court order legally requires such disclosure.

Security

We use appropriate security measures (including encryption and other electronic and procedural safeguards) in order to prevent the loss, misuse, and alteration of personal information under our control. However, no transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Consequently, LifeCenter Northwest, Donate Life Today, our service providers and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents do not represent, warrant or guarantee that personal information will be protected against misuse, loss or alterations. 

Correcting/Updating/Deactivating Personal Information

Once an account has been created, registered donors may access their personal profile online at any time to change or modify their information. Click here to access your profile.
